Travel Time!
Once a year the candy industry descends upon Chicago for the All Candy Expo. It's the "largest confectionary, cookie and snack show in the Americas" and it's a pretty big deal. It is the king of candy trade shows and each year I sit back and live vicariously through the power of the interwebs and wish I could be there.
Well not this year!
I am not going to sit back and dream of all the wonderful candy just a few hundred miles away. I simply refuse to. Anyway, I'll be too busy attending the All Candy Expo instead. Yay for me! There's only like a billion and a half exhibitors (over 450) and I'm quite excited to see what all neat new stuff is coming down the pipe (and of course report my findings). No sitting on the sidelines for me this year. I get to get out and in the thick of it all.
There is one drawback, though. Got an email today. It contained the following terrible phrase:
The dress code for all Expo activities is business attire.Business attire? Really?
"Bah!" and "Boo!" say I. I was planning on wearing a jacket, but I don't like wearing ties. They're really uncomfortable. But not cost is too high for candy.
So, the pain of horrible ties aside, I will be happily flying off to Chicago and checking out all of the fun myself this time around.
Um.... whee!

Congrats on making the trip!
Oh, regarding the dress code. I'd say be neat and respectable looking ... I wore what I usually wear to the office and on some days wore nice sneakers even (these cute little pumas).
Keep away from tee shirts (don't want them to peg bloggers as schlubs) and go for at least polos or collared shirts. No ripped jeans. Khakis seemed pretty acceptable.
Biggest thing is that this is their trade show and they've invited us along, so we owe them at least the respect of looking presentable.

Thanks!
I noticed on the video from last year's show that the dress was spread from business attire down to business casual, but since they have a dress code I figured I should respect it. It's exactly like you said - this is their trade show and they're being nice enough to let us in on the fun. The least I can do is dress appropriately.
So the crazy loud paisley shirts will stay on the hanger and the nice respectable shirts will be worn in their stead.

William, I love your blog -As I am a new blogger I hope one day to get my site looking just half as great as yours. Yours is my benchmark. And I love the topics.
I, too, am a chocoholic and hoping you will open up a new topic for me. Lately I have been reading a lot about "Le Whiff" Are you for it or against it?
Personally, as a devoted lover of this glorious food I can't believe real chocolate fans will be satisfied by this inhalable chocolate. For me, the chocolate experience is so much more than the endorphine or serotonin kick I get - the texture, the taste, the infinite creativity it inspires as I create my own flavoured and painted candies....
I look forward to yours and the thoughts of other chocolate purists.
Yours in choclate dreams,
Candace
